I asked those who I have made cross stitches for in the past to write the meaning behind their stitch. For some, they are describing a gift they gave away, while others are the recipients of the stitch. I gave no direction in style or length, so you’ll find these stories vary dramatically, making them all the more fun to read. My only direction was that the story be truthful.
Custom work is delightful because my designs are pushed beyond my own creativity and thinking. The people I have made cross stitches for, with their own experiences and imaginations, have come up with ideas I wouldn’t have even dreamt of. As my business grew, I went from making cross stitches for close family and friends to people I hadn’t even met before. As a result, the cross stitches became more abstract. The more I knew about the story behind the design, the more motivated I was to complete the cross stitch and make it the best it can be. I am honored to create pieces that represent such intimate and meaningful parts of others’ lives.
